MOUNTAIN MAN RENDEVOUS • FLINT KNAPPING • NATIVE AMERICAN ARTS FESTIVAL
Come celebrate the rendezvous as in the past when mountain men would meet to sell their furs, trade for needed supplies, meet with old friends, engage in storytelling and contests of all sorts. Participate in the art of Knapping…the shaping of stones through the process of lithic reduction to manufacture stone tools. And, experience Native American Arts and Crafts of various vendors and sellers. May 9, 10, 11, & 12.
Plans are being made to have many artisans present, demonstrating their crafts and selling their artwork, including flint knappers, who make stone arrowheads and knives, potters, atlatl throwers, and more. The event will also be attended by individuals representing the early trappers and explorers who wandered this country during the 17th and 18th centuries, and these folks will accurately portray the dress, technology and activities they used to cope with the environment of their day.
There are many campsites and RV sites located for our guests at very reasonable rates, together with cabins available, and guests are encouraged to make reservations as soon as possible. Vendor’s will find a wonderful venue for displaying their wares to the public, and vendors’ fees for the event are nominal.
Many school groups are being contacted around Central Tennessee, and we anticipate a great response from teacher’s looking for a unique educational opportunity for their students. Ms. Lynn’s Ranch is a well known venue for many entertainers throughout the year, so there’s no telling who you might see over the weekend wandering through the crowd.
This event is intended to continue on the same weekend from year to year and promises to become one of the biggest, best attended events of its types east of the Mississippi. Regardless of your personal interests, you’ll find something to enjoy at the First Annual Hurricane mills Native Arts festival, Knap-In, and Rendezvous.
